What To Expect

Place Order

Please contact us in advance to place your order and schedule a pickup date. Currently we are operating by appointment only.

All orders are a minimum of 25 fish except for Bass.

Our fish are raised in outdoor ponds and harvested specifically for each order. Fish must be seined from the ponds, sorted by size, and prepared for transport prior to pickup.

Advanced notice allow us to have your order ready when you arrive.

Bring Your Fish Home

Please bring one 5-gallon bucket for every 25 fish ordered.

(5-gallon buckets are available for purchase)

Fish are transported in oxygen-filled bags placed inside your buckets for protection. Most bags hold approx. 25 fish, although the number may vary depending on species and fish size.

Before leaving the farm, each bag is filled with pure oxygen to help keep your fish in good condition during transport. Please take fish directly home.

Warm-weather pickup: Add about 1-2 inches of ice to the bottom of each bucket before arriving. Keeping the water cool helps to reduce stress during transport.

Acclimate your fish

When you arrive at your pond, do not immediately release the fish. Float the unopend bag in the pond for approximately 15-20 mintues to allow the water temperatures to gradually equalize.

Once acclimated, open the bag and gently release the fish into the pond. Avoid leaving bags in direct sunlight while acclimated, as water inside can warm quickly.

Never pour fish abruptly into pond water when there is a significant temperature difference.

Stock Your Pond

Once acclimated, gentrly release the fish into your pond. Choose a calm area along the shoreline and avoid throwing. or dumping fish into the water.

Handle fish as little as possible.

After Stocking

It is normal for newly stocked fish to disappear quickly into deeper water or cover. You may not see them again for some time after stocking.

Give your fish time to adjust to their new environment. Avoid unnecessary disturbance immediately following stocking.

Fish may remain near the shoreline briefly after release as they adjust. Prolonged stress, unusual behavior, or fish remaining at the surface my indicate a water-quality or oxygen problem.

Fish Care & Responsibility

The health of your fish depends on proper care after they leave our farm.

Fish should be transported directly to their destination after pickup. Extended travel time, unnecessary stops, leaving fish in a vehicle, or exposure to excessive heat can reduce oxygen and increase stress.

Customers are responsible for following our transportation and acclimation instructions and for ensuring ther pond has adequate dissolved oxygen and suitable water quality before stocking.

Laggis' Fish Farm cannot guarantee fish survival when losses result from transportation delays, improper handling or acclimation, low dissolved oxygen, poor water quality, extreme temperatures, or other conditions outside of our control.
